The heart of this lively, interactive training helps acquire a deeper understanding of our individual passions in order to help pursue a richer, more meaningful life and gain respect for ourselves and others. Through the use of video, group activities and discussion, this training examines routines, activities, and relationships that are important to each individual.
This training is designed to expose individuals to the diverse population of people with whom we interact in our everyday work lives. The course is designed to help participants discover and examine biases they may have toward people unlike themselves. Through videos, written exercises, interactive on-line surveys, and conversation, the training includes topics covering racism, sexism, ageism, classism, heterosexism, faith as an ‘ism’, and ableism.
This course introduces participants to dementia and the various physical and emotional impairments that may result. It will introduce the Global Deterioration Scale which demonstrates the various levels of the disease. Participants will learn the types of behaviors that may occur due to dementia and tips in coping with the disease. Through the use of group activities and games, participants will learn best practices in communicating and interacting with someone with dementia.
This course provides opportunities for staff and service recipients and the general public to gain knowledge and awareness of service recipient rights and responsibilities. Videos, group exercises, and case scenarios help attendees recognize their rights as well as understand their responsibilities. Group discussions cover how policies were developed to protect consumers, contacts for self-advocacy resources and the importance of being connected to the community.
Medication administration can be a complicated task requiring both knowledge and skill to safely assist in the treatment of medical and psychiatric conditions. This course reviews legal responsibilities, medical policies and procedures, medication abbreviations and terminology, psychotropic medication, infection control and documentation. Participants also practice taking and monitoring vital signs.
Learn skills that could save a life from instructors certified by the American Heart Association. This course covers the most up-to-date techniques for administering CPR and First Aid. Instructors offer current, valuable information in an easy-to-follow format. Skill practice, discussion, and real-life examples are used to reinforce the techniques and make this course fun and informative. This course provides for a 2 year certification in both CPR and First Aid.
